Penn Medicine is united to improve health and wellness in the Philadelphia region and far beyond.
One of the nation’s premier academic medical centers, we are distinguished by a constant spirit of innovation, curiosity, and compassion. From creating the “hospital of the future” at the Pavilion to spearheading world-changing advances in immunotherapy, every aspect of our mission—patient care, research, education, and building health and equity in communities—is inspired by the impact created for people all over the globe.
Every day, decisions made in Penn Medicine classrooms, laboratories, and hospitals have the power to transform and save lives. That impact is driven by a talented clinical, research, and teaching workforce and fueled by the compassionate, visionary philanthropy and advocacy of alumni and friends.
An Integrated Academic Health System
Penn Medicine consists of the Raymond and Ruth Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania Health System, together forming a $8.9 billion enterprise.
Founded in 1765 as the nation’s first medical school, the Perelman School of Medicine has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as among the top medical schools in the United States for more than 20 years. The University of Pennsylvania Health System’s patient care facilities include six acute-care hospitals and hundreds of outpatient locations throughout the region.

Highlighted Priorities
- Strengthening academic leadership through Presidential Professorships, which enable us to recruit and retain exceptional young scholars who contribute to the eminence and diversity of our faculty.
- Fueling the future of advanced care in serene surroundings at one of the most innovative hospitals in the world: the Pavilion. A variety of naming opportunities are still available to support state-of-the-art clinical areas and patient-centered programs that promote excellence, inclusion, and equity.
- Expanding the frontiers of Penn’s ImmunoRevolution—from cellular and gene therapies to Immune Health—by discovering applications for treating even more diseases and making breakthrough therapies more widely available.

“Time and again, it is thanks to the collective power of our remarkable alumni and philanthropic partners that Penn Medicine is able to shape the future of medicine. We’re excited to welcome you to the Penn Medicine family in giving patients in Philadelphia and around the world the gift of compassion, equity, and health.”
